Rema Namakula Bio

Rehema Namakula, professionally known as Rema Namakula or simply Rema, is a multifaceted talent from Uganda, acclaimed as a singer, songwriter, and music producer. Born on April 24, 1991, to Hamida Nabbosa and Mukiibi Ssemakula, Rema’s journey into the world of music began during her S.6 vacation when she ventured into karaoke singing.

Her passion for music found nurturing under the wing of the legendary Halima Namakula, who became her mentor and guided her artistic endeavors. This led Rema to grace the stage as a backup singer, notably alongside Bebe Cool, before stepping into the spotlight as a lead vocalist.

Rema’s ascent faced challenges, including parting ways with Bebe Cool‘s Gagamel camp after revealing her solo album project during a television interview, unbeknownst to her employer at the time.

Undeterred, Rema embarked on her solo journey, making waves with her breakout single “Oli Wange” in 2013, penned by the esteemed singer-songwriter Nince Henry. Her talent and distinctive voice caught the attention of both local and international audiences.

In 2016, Rema’s star shone brighter when she represented Uganda at the prestigious fourth season of Coke Studio Africa. Alongside fellow Ugandan luminaries and international talents, she showcased her prowess on a global stage.

Through her artistry, Rema captivates audiences, leaving an indelible mark on Ugandan music while inspiring aspiring talents to follow their dreams with dedication and passion.
